Travel Agents’ perspective:

Bomdila is a town midway between Tawang and Bhalukpong. When your tourists visit the Tawang region, they cannot drive straight to Tawang from Bhalukpong which is the entry point into Arunachal Pradesh. The total drive is about 300 km and given the road condition, it takes close to 12 hours to drive this distance. Hence a halt at Bomdila becomes essential.

Important Note: Tourist needs to make a night halt at Bomdila/Dirang before reaching Tawang. Because Tawang is very far and cannot be reached directly from Bhalukpong.

Most tourists use Bomdila as a stopover destination, they reach Bomdila in the afternoon and start for their onward journey the next morning. Hence there is little time for sightseeing or activity here. However, if tourists have time, there are some attractions in the town itself. Travel agents must also note that Dirang, another town in the same area, is just about 40 km from Bomdila. So most tourists stay at Bomdila on the way up and Dirang on their way back, or the reverse. Among Dirang and Bomdila, whereas Bomdila is a hill station, Dirang is a valley, so there is a large difference in temperature between the two places.

Bomdila is 170 km before Tawang. The driving time from Bomdila to Tawang is about 6 Hours. From Tezpur, Bomdila is about 150 km, which takes about 5 hours to travel. Guwahati is 336 km away. Bomdila is just 97 km from Bhalukpong.  Travel Agents must note that there is no railway station or airport in or around Bomdila. So the only mode of transport here is by road.

There is no luxurious property in Bomdila, the best accommodations can be considered equivalent to a 2 or 3-star category hotel of the plains. So your guests must be educated accordingly for accommodation.  Tripsy arranges to book in all the good hotels in the area.
