Bhalukpong is a very beautiful and small town located in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. This small town is very popular for river rafting.
Jia Bhoroli River known as the Kameng River before entering Assam, the Jia Bhoroli River originates in South Tibet and develops in Arunachal Pradesh. One of the major tributaries of the Brahmaputra River, it finally merges with the fiery giant at Tezpur on the eastern side of the Kolia Bhomora Setu bridge. Well known for large stocks of the Golden Mahseer fish species, Jia Bhoroli, especially while entering Assam goes through a rugged and rapids patch which is most ideal for white water rafting.
During the rainy season, it is not advisable to do rafting in Bhalukpong. The ideal time to do rafting at Bhalukpong is November to April Month. During the rafting, you will get the opportunity to experience the view on both sides of the river. However you might be busy with rafting, you can try swimming in the freezing cold water of the Kameng river. The river water is really clean and pollution-free.
The rafting is organized in Bhalukpong taking all the necessary safety measures. There will be a professional guide with you and the guide will give you brief details about rafting tactics and safety measures. The guide will also conduct a short paddling practicing season for the participant so it becomes easy for the participants to participate in the adventure activity.
To participate in the rafting you need to go to the rafting base camp which is about 15 km away from Prashanti Tourist Lodge (our recommended stay option at Bhalukpong). The rafting starts in the morning at 8 am. The total distance covered during rafting is about 12 km.
During the rafting, you will be provided with all the necessary equipment which will also include safety equipment such as Life Jacket & Helmet. The equipment charges would be included in our rafting package.
